The School District for Pickens County is one of the
top rated school systems in the state. In 2004, the school district was
ranked #1 in the state for ACT scores and average SAT scores. Pickens
County is the home of Clemson University, the state's second largest university
with approximately 17,000 students. It's was ranked 35th among top
national public universities in 2004 according to U.S. News and World Report.
Southern Wesleyan University with 2,500 students is located in Central, and
strives to integrate faith, learning and living. Tri-County Technical
College in Pendleton, is a two-year college, offering more than 65 degree,
diploma, and certificate programs geared to the needs of citizens and
industry in Pickens, Oconee, and Anderson counties.
